Imagine waking up every morning with a knot in your stomach, not just from hunger but from the worry of where your next meal will come from. For some of our locals, this is their reality.
PAKn’SAVE Tauranga partnered with us to try and change this, by giving their customers the chance to pay-it-forward to support the Ōtūmoetai Social Supermarket (OSS) as part of their grocery shop. With a long history of supporting community initiatives, this was the first time the store had given customers the chance to join them in their efforts.
For the 45,000 residents of the Ōtūmoetai area, OSS isn't just a supermarket; it's a lifeline during times of hardship. Using a point system, OSS empowers shoppers to choose the groceries they need from their shelves.
One of their shoppers shared with us how important this is. Life changing in fact:

Through our two-week campaign, PAK'nSAVE Tauranga invited customers to donate a small amount at the checkout. The response was overwhelming, with the community rallying together to pay-forward $10,975 worth of groceries to OSS, so they can help even more people like this.
It’s an incredible example of how much our small donations make a big difference.
Here’s how generous people just like you have made a difference to local people in need.
