There’s a whole bunch of people out there looking after kids who aren’t their own. These are the unsung foster parent heroes who open their homes to needy kids, either short term or some long term. Grandparents often have to step back into the parenting role too, raising their grandchildren because their own children can’t parent for a number of reasons.
Kids in Need Waikato was set up in 2017 to help these fostered kids in the greater Waikato region. Kids in Need puts together personalised care packs for these kids to not only help the kids have a better future but also to assist the fosterers who often look after these kids using their own money and resources. Kids in Need also helps out with food and other items like clothing, but they rely on the generosity of others to do the work that they do.
One such generous business is Stables on Alpha, an eatery in Cambridge, also in the Waikato. Stables on Alpha paid-it-forward 10 meals to Kids in Need to do their bit in offering a better future to members of their local community.
If you’re in Cambridge, call in to The Stables for a meal and add a little to your bill so they can continue with the pay-it-forwards. If you’re elsewhere in the country, head to our marketplace for other ways to give.
Here’s how generous people just like you have made a difference to local people in need.
