Gazing at the stars can be fun, exciting and even romantic. But not for everyone.

Under the Stars is an organisation that was set up to help the homeless and needy in Tauranga by offering them a weekly dinner (5pm on Saturdays) and lunch (12pm on Thursdays) at 45 Cliff Road. They began serving meals and offering kindness under the stars in 2014 and the name stuck.

Being a Charitable Trust, Under the Stars relies on donations of food and the generosity of volunteers to be able to look after members of the Tauranga community. They were blown away recently when Elizabeth Cafe and Larder came to the party and paid-it-forward 20 meals.

Laura, Under the Stars’ Operations Manager, said “It was perfect - and the chicken pasta salad was a big hit!”

As one of Tauranga local’s favourite cafes and restaurants, Elizabeth Cafe and Larder is the place to go for great coffee and delectable eats. They not only offer all-day breakfasts and tasty lunches, but they also host events at their venue, including degustation dinners.

Supporting Elizabeth Cafe were Mike Greer Homes and S&L Land Specialists, both community-minded businesses who want to offer Tauranga locals a better future.
