Award-winning chefs feeding the hungry

Under the stars… It sounds fun, perhaps adventurous… even romantic! But, for some people, under the stars can mean being cold, lonely and not having a roof over their heads at night. This is how Under the Stars was born in 2014.

Under the Stars was set up to help feed the homeless and needy in Tauranga and began serving food in one of the main streets in Tauranga, under the stars. Working outside in all weathers was not what you’d call fun, adventurous or romantic, but it was generously meeting a need in the community. Under the Stars relies on donations of food and other necessities to do the work that they do, so they were very grateful to Elizabeth Cafe and Larder for paying-it-forward 30 meals to assist them in their outreach. 

Thirty people were treated to scrumptious dishes because Elizabeth Cafe and Larder gave their time, talents and resources to help others in the community.

Did you know that Elizabeth Cafe has award-winning chefs on site? That explains why they offer such tasty breakfast and lunch dishes—and other eats for in between! They have also won a customer service award for looking after people and a sustainability award for looking after the environment. They also get a generosity award from us here at GoGenerosity for helping to look after members of the community who continually live under the stars.  Thank you, too, to Under the Stars who have been faithfully feeding the hungry of Tauranga for so many years.
