Ordinary banks are usually about saving and lending, but foodbanks are all about giving away. Community foodbanks have been set up throughout New Zealand to distribute food and other essentials to needy people because they want to offer these people a better future.
The Mosgiel Community Foodbank is one such foodbank. It is run by the Taieri Christian Care Trust and was set up to help those in the Mosgiel area. They’re open five days per week from 10am until 11.45am and openly acknowledge that they wouldn’t be able to operate if it weren’t for the generosity of businesses and individuals. My Coffee Capsules was one of the businesses that raised their coffee cups and hands to help and paid-it-forward a $167 voucher to the Mosgiel Foodbank.
Michelle from the Mosgiel Foodbank was able to redeem the voucher and said: “Well, that was fun shopping! I bought eight fabulous reusable coffee cups—perfect to go with the other things I have already had donated from GoGenerosity. I would like to thank you for all the bits and pieces for our Foodbank. These things are amazing!”
My Coffee Capsules is an Auckland-based company that sells coffee capsules and coffee paraphernalia, including reusable coffee cups, but also other capsuled beverages like hot chocolate drinks. Their capsules are also biodegradable and compostable, so you can satisfy your coffee fix AND feel good about taking care of the planet. If you purchase from My Coffee Capsules’ online store, you can also add to your bill to keep the pay-it-forwards going so that you can be helping people in need at the same time as well. Now that’s a win-win-win situation for everyone!co
