Mental health used to be a discussion people would shy away from. We love that this is no longer the taboo subject it once was. That is down to education, open conversations and organisations such as I AM HOPE putting in the work to talk to our youth about mental health.

I AM HOPE wants to “promote positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand, offering hope and a voice to young people.”

They achieve their aim by going into primary schools and talking to kids, reassuring them that it’s OK to be honest and vulnerable, and offering them counselling should they want it or need it.

A big part of this outreach includes talking to teachers. To help these conversations go sweetly and show the teachers they’re appreciated, Solomons Gold paid-it-forward a $100 worth of chocolate to I AM HOPE.

The I AM HOPE team will be taking these chocolate goodies with them for these teacher visits, with Napier as their next stop.

If you want to enjoy these treats too, Solomons Gold is a Mount Maunganui-based chocolatier who creates truly memorable chocolate using organic, ethically produced cacao. Their chocolate does not contain dairy, gluten, nuts, soy or refined sugar, so is great for all choco-holics.

You, too, can be part of Solomon Gold’s generosity by adding a little to your bill when you order online. Chocolate with a side of doing good, sounds like a great combination to us!
