VIew Profile

In New York City, where nearly 1.2 million residents face food insecurity, New York Common Pantry (NYCP) serves as a beacon of hope and nourishment. With a poverty rate nearly double the national average, NYCP’s mission goes beyond simply reducing hunger — they’re all about promoting dignity, health, and self-sufficiency, making each meal they serve as welcoming and judgment-free as possible.

Recently, NYCP had the chance to serve up something extra special: wild Atlantic cod, generously paid forward by Fulton Fish Market shoppers. This cod was transformed into delicious fish tacos — bringing gourmet quality and a sense of celebration to the table for those in need.

As Marlon, NYCP’s Lead Chef, shared,

When I made the fish tacos, three or four guests came up to me, gave me that look and said, ‘this is very good, very delicious, very tasty.’ They were congratulating and thanking me and the Pantry for serving such a delicious meal. When I have fish or seafood as an ingredient to work with, I put my magic to it and get to watch all of our participants enjoy it.

Marlon’s culinary skill and Fulton Fish Market’s fresh cod created more than a tasty meal — it brought a sense of dignity and care to the community, showing NYCP’s guests that they are valued and supported. Fresh, high-quality meals like these, filled with flavor and love, make a lasting difference, reminding each person that they deserve not just to be fed but to enjoy and take pride in what they eat.

This impact is made possible through Fulton Fish Market and their shoppers. Each dollar donated helps bring these nourishing experiences to life. It’s not just about feeding; it’s about making everyone feel valued, one fish taco at a time.

Thank you to Fulton Fish Market and every generous supporter who contributes to this cause. You’re helping make dignity and deliciousness a staple for all.
