Is coffee the new black (or brown) gold? Mount Zion Coffee seems to think so! Mount Zion is a coffee shop at 27 Spring Street in Tauranga that serves variations of your favourite brew as well as tasty eats to go with them, their latest options being savoury scones or plain scones with jam and cream—a “Devonshire tea” to have with your coffee in the Bay of Plenty! Mount Zion also sells coffee beans for you to do your own brewing at home.
Apart from regularly serving their heavenly coffees, Mount Zion also wants to offer a better future for others in the community. Every Thursday (except school holidays), Mount Zion pays-it-forward five free coffees to folk from Recreate BOP (Bay of Plenty). This means that five young people get to have a café experience each week all for free!
Recreate is a New Zealand organisation operating in five areas of the country that offers a variety of programmes for disabled young people who range in age from 10 to 35 years old. These team-based programmes could be adventure camps, learning new skills, holiday activities or social events like the coffee outings. Recreate saw a need in the community and wants to meet it, but they need help from businesses like Mount Zion to continue to offer life-changing experiences for these young ones.
So, if you’re in search of a special place to find your coffee fix, why not head down to Mount Zion? Add a little to your bill when you come to pay, and the Recreate young people will be grateful you did so.
Here’s how generous people just like you have made a difference to local people in need.
