Imagine being homeless and having nowhere to go. Long, cold nights sleeping rough and constantly feeling on edge, tired and hungry. Sounds agonising doesn’t it? Unfortunately, for some people in our communities, this is life as they know it.

An organisation in Rotorua, the Feeding Rotorua Charitable Trust, was set up to help feed the homeless and displaced people in their community. Their volunteers have a “heart for the broken, the unloved and the hungry.” Feeding Rotorua distributes meals every day of the week — that’s every single day! Their vision is to encourage people and give them hope as well as improving their quality of life. They also want to give people dignity and value, and they do this by serving meals to those that need them.

To assist Feeding Rotorua in helping the local community, The Greenhouse Kitchen and Bar paid-forward 30 of their delicious meals. If you’ve ever visitedGreenhouse Kitchen at 1145 Tutanekai Street in Rotorua, you’ll know they serve up amazing treats, like Pork Belly Bites and Smoked Salmon Risotto. They are a family-owned restaurant that believes in offering quality food and service — to everyone. Next time you are enjoying a nutritious meal at Greenhouse Kitchen, why not pay a little extra to help pay for a meal for a homeless person who may not get to enjoy meals that the rest of us sometimes take for granted. Every bit counts.

We here at GoGenerosity feel warmed and encouraged in seeing businesses like Greenhouse Kitchen and organisations like Feeding Rotorua giving selflessly to help meet needs in the community. Life can be better if we all do our bit, however small our part may seem.
