The General, a Mount Maunganui cafe and eatery, believes in looking after people, especially precious children. Recently, they paid-it-forward 20 frozen meals to Homes of Hope in Tauranga.
Homes of Hope provides care to children who have been affected by trauma in their lives. They do this through whānau-style homes and therapeutic interventions, so that those in their care can feel safe, loved and nurtured – as all children should be.
The meals from The General were gratefully received by both the children and the carers at Homes of Hope, who had this to say: “This was great service! [The General] were so lovely. Please thank them again from us!”
As the saying goes “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well” (Virginia Woolf). We think Woolf is onto something and imagine the kids slept pretty well that night! If you want to dine well too, The General has just opened for select evenings, as well as their usual gourmet all day menu.
While you’re there you could even help them to help Homes of Hope. A delicious meal for you, a small pay-it-forward for them. All the little $1 and $2’s here and there help The General continue helping the community, like these children.
Alongside customers, Mike Greer Homes makes donations to help The General’s pay-it-forwards go further, so they can provide more meals.
Mike Greer Homes build quality homes throughout New Zealand that are “designed and built with purpose and passion,” much like the purpose and passion The General has for food, customer service and generosity.
Together, The General, Mike Greer Homes, Homes of Hope, and you can help to make New Zealand a better place for some of the hurting and precious children in our community.
Here’s how generous people just like you have made a difference to local people in need.
