276 meals thanks to Latitude37

To put it simply, we're blown away by the generosity of Latitude 37's  customers and team who, together, paid-forward $327 to see 69 family meals go to the team @kura kai this week. Thats as many as 276 people who not only had full tummies, but were treated to restaurant quality meals that they don't often get access to. This is equality in the truest sense of the word, Latitude customers sharing their experience with local people less fortunate through the simple act of paying-forward a small amount on top of their bill.

This means the generosity of their customers is amplified to see the biggest impact possible in their local community 👏 This is definitely something worth celebrating 🎉

What also needs special mention in this story is that Latitude 37 has partnered with the team at Kura Kai to get the meals to the local people who need them most. The Kura Kai team live by the value of manaakitanga (generosity and care for others), which we absolutely love.

The way that Kura Kai operationalises their values, are to raise funds to purchase chest freezers, which are then donated to the high schools they support. They then build a community of volunteers who keep these freezers stocked with nutritious family meals that are given out to rangatahi (young people) and their whānau. They don't stop there either, they also encourage the practice of manaakitanga in their rangatahi and teach them the value of “Caring for their Community”. They do this by asking them to look out for tāngata, whānau, kaumātua that need support within their community and to use Kura Kai as an offering to those they see in need. How awesome is that?
